EMBEDED Partners Gather in Portugal for the 2nd General Assembly

The EMBEDED consortium successfully held its 2nd General Assembly on 17–18 June in Braga, Portugal, bringing together project partners to review progress, discuss upcoming activities, and strengthen collaboration across all work packages.

Hosted by Universidade do Minho and Sogrape, the two-day meeting provided an excellent opportunity for partners to exchange knowledge, assess project achievements, and align on the next stages of the EMBEDED project. The consortium would like to express its sincere gratitude to both hosting partners for their outstanding organisation, hospitality, and support throughout the event.

During the first day, representatives from all partner organisations presented updates on project activities across the various work packages, followed by in-depth discussions and valuable feedback from consortium members and the External Advisory Board. These sessions enabled partners to review technical progress, address challenges, and identify opportunities for further collaboration.

The second day combined strategic discussions with a series of technical visits that highlighted the practical and industrial dimensions of the project. Participants had the opportunity to visit facilities at Universidade do Minho, gaining insight into the university’s research infrastructure and capabilities relevant to the project.

The programme also included a technical visit to Sogrape, one of Portugal’s leading winemaking companies. Consortium members toured the company’s facilities and vineyards, learning about viticulture practices, production processes, and sustainability initiatives within the wine sector. The visit offered valuable perspectives on how innovative solutions and research can support more sustainable agricultural and industrial systems.

To conclude the event, partners travelled to Porto for a visit to the historic Sandeman wine cellars, one of the region’s most iconic wineries. The tour provided participants with a unique opportunity to explore the rich heritage of Portuguese winemaking while continuing informal discussions in a collaborative and inspiring setting.

The 2nd General Assembly reinforced the strong commitment of all EMBEDED partners to achieving the project’s objectives and delivering impactful results. The consortium looks forward to building on the momentum generated during the meeting and continuing its collaborative work in the months ahead.

The EMBEDED consortium once again thanks Universidade do Minho and Sogrape for hosting this successful event and for showcasing the innovation, expertise, and cultural heritage of the region.
