Transforming agrifood residues into valuable bio-based materials

Embeded

About the project

The EMBEDED project transforms agrifood residues like olive pomace, grape mark, cork bark, and grass press-cake into biochar and eco-construction boards, supporting carbon storage and resilient local value chains. Five pilots across Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Czech Republic will test modular pyrolysis units and bioactive extraction methods, while validating the local (km.0) use of biochar and exploring new regional markets.

News

Discover how the EMBEDED project is advancing the science and practical applications of biochar, an ancient, carbon-rich material with modern potential for sustainable agriculture, waste management, and climate neutrality.
The EMBEDED consortium met in Madrid for its first General Assembly, reviewing project progress, strengthening collaboration, and planning the next steps.
We are thrilled to launch a powerful strategic collaboration between three sister projects: PRIMARY, EMBEDED and HarWASTing.
